Loch Lomond & The West Highlands

A perfect introduction to the Scottish Highlands with stunning views of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. The tour includes an optional visit to Doune Castle and the opportunity to take a boat cruise on Loch Lomond, possibly one of Scotland's most picturesque lochs.

Highlights

  • Doune Castle
  • Wallace Monument
  • Loch Lomond Boat Cruise
  • Aberfoyle
  • Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park

Departing Edinburgh and heading north via Stirling, we enjoy views of magnificent Stirling Castle before a stop for a photo of the Wallace Monument, the impressive tower built to honour Scotland's famous hero. Then we head for the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond and spend time taking in panoramic views of the loch surrounded by mountains. Choose to take a boat cruise, a walk along the banks, or simply relax and spend time exploring the Loch Lomond Shores.

We travel through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, famous for some of Scotland's most iconic Highland scenery. After stopping to pick up some lunch in the quaint Highland village of Aberfoyle, we head to Doune for an optional tour of its medieval Castle. This is a stunning building, packed with history and guaranteed to impress. We then make our way back to Edinburgh, arriving early evening.

Tour of Doune Castle

Doune Castle is a magnificent late 14th Century courtyard castle. The tour includes an excellent audio guide narrated by Terry Jones, who starred in the movie ‘Monty Python and The Holy Grail’, part of which was filmed at the castle.

Loch Lomond Cruise

A cruise on the loch is by far the best way to explore the area and discover what makes it so magical. The boat has great panoramic views throughout and an indoor bar area so you can see the loch whatever the weather. The cruise also features on board commentary by TV historian and archaeologist Neil Oliver.
