A stunning day tour of the Highlands, a land of forests, mountains, rivers and glens. Visit a local whisky distillery and sample a warming dram of single malt whisky
. Returns to Edinburgh in time for an evening at the world famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
We leave Edinburgh behind and head for the Highlands through the scenic beauty of Trossachs National Park and the Highland village of Killin. We hear tales of Rob Roy and view the impressive Falls of Dochart, fed by the highest peaks in the Southern Highlands, including the mighty Ben Lawers.
Then we journey alongside beautiful Loch Tay to the small town of Aberfeldy for lunch ,where you have the option to enjoy a Whisky Distillery tour* (entrance fee £6), take a short nature trail or explore Scotland’s first Fair Trade town.
*Dewar’s World of Whisky is an award winning, five star visitor centre set in beautiful Highland Perthshire. Aberfeldy Single Malt Whisky is at the heart of the Dewar’s portfolio and Dewar’s World of Whisky is presently the only place in the United Kingdom showcasing the full range of Dewar’s products, from premium blends to the legendary Aberfeldy single malt.
We then explore the peaceful National Trust for Scotland site at the Hermitage and take a short woodland walk (past some of Scotland’s tallest trees), to see spectacular waterfalls, view Ossian’s Cave and the unusual Victorian folly and the river Braan. Finally, it’s back to Edinburgh past the magnificent Forth Bridges arriving back in the early evening. On returning to Edinburgh at approximately 5.30pm, you are then free to return to your accommodation, have something to eat and make your own way to the evening performance of the Military Tattoo at the spectacular Edinburgh Castle.
Your ticket for the Tattoo will be issued to you at check-in for your tour, no guide will accompany you to the Tattoo as this is your own free time.
The Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a sell-out every year and for many people, it is a lifetime ambition to see the Tattoo live. No matter the weather, you're guaranteed an experience which will live with you forever. This year is the 60th performance of the Edinburgh Tattoo and will mark the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns in special style! Check out the Tattoo website for more information: www.edinburgh-tattoo.co.uk

Notes for customers with mobility problems - Castlehill, where performances of the Edinburgh Military Tattoo take place, is reached via a short walk on an old cobbled street of some 80 metres and on a steep incline. Some people may find this difficult. There is a further 60 metres after this followed by a dozen or so steps to be negotiated before reaching the seated area, which is steeply tiered. If this is a significant issue for you, please advise us prior to booking in order for us to ascertain whether this is suitable for you.
