Eco-Scheme & Sustainability

Groundbreaking ECO Scheme for Highland Explorer Tours
In recognition of our commitment to Sustainable tourism, we have developed a groundbreaking new Environmental Charity Offering (ECO) Scheme for our customers. When booking a tour, customers can make an optional £2 donation to leading Scottish environmental charities John Muir Trust (50%) and Trees For Life (50%). This donation will be 100% matched by Highland Explorer Tours.

Following discussions with both John Muir Trust and Trees For Life, this innovative scheme is a first in the market and demonstrates the company’s commitment to Scotland’s natural environment and culture.
Alastair Campbell, Managing Director, said ‘Our team strongly believe in putting something back and we are delighted to support these important charities to help preserve Scotland’s natural environment and biodiversity for future generations’.

The John Muir Trust is one of the country’s leading guardians of wild land and wildlife. They carry out their charitable role through the ownership of land and the promotion of education, activities and conservation. www.jmt.org.
Nigel Hawkins, director of the John Muir Trust said:
“We are delighted with Highland Explorer Tours’ decision to launch their very imaginative new environmental charity offering scheme.   It gives a great opportunity for people enjoying the excellent tours offered by the company to contribute towards the safeguarding and management of some of the wonderful scenery and landscapes they will see on their travels’.

Trees for Life are an award-wining charity working to restore the Caledonian Forest in the Highlands of Scotland.  The charity has funded the protection of a number of existing forest remnants and have so far planted over half a million trees. www.treesforlife.org.uk.

Alan Watson, Executive Director and Founder of Trees for Life said:
“We are delighted that Highland Explorer Tours has chosen Trees for Life as a beneficiary of their new Environmental Charity Offering Scheme. The scheme makes helping the environment easy for their customers, and by matching the donations, Highland Explorer Tours are showing their commitment to Trees for Life’s work. We have pledged to plant 100,000 trees this year as part of the United Nations Environment Programmes ‘Billion Tree’ campaign, and continued support from Highland Explorer tours will help us to make it a reality.”
